CSR – We donated our rarely used business clothes

September 10, 2019

We donated our rarely used business clothes to make a positive impact and contribute to a society with a more responsible consumption and production.

As a part of our CSR committee, we have a dedicated team who works with UN’s sustainable development goal 12; responsible consumption and production. The team members Hege Markussen, Anna Nousiainen and Karin Berger have successfully conducted a CSR initiative, to collect business clothes and accessories to donate to Myrorna (Sweden) and Fretex (Norway), two second hand shops who donate all profits to the social work of the Salvation Army.

At TG, we want to do the little extra for the world we live in and we strongly believe that it is important that we as a company take a social responsibility. Therefore, we have a dedicated CSR committee who works with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The committee has decided to focus on 3 of the goals; quality education, gender equality and responsible consumption and production.

The committee saw an opportunity to contribute to a sustainable environment with less consumption while helping people in need just by getting everyone at TG to donate their rarely used business clothes. By encouraging everyone to donate to second hand, we can give clothes a longer life and contribute to a more responsible consumption and production.

The goals and targets we’re committed to are:

  • Goal 4: Quality Education
    • Target 4: By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship
  • Goal 5: Gender Equality and empower all women and girls
    • Target 5: Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life
    • Target 7: Undertake reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and other forms of property, financial services, inheritance and natural resources, in accordance with national laws.
  • Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
    • Target 2: By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources
    • Target 6: encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.

Our CSR committee was formed during 2018, and its first initiative was to donate all Christmas gifts to charity. Based on these goals and targets, the committee decided on three organizations that strives for the same things to sponsor with a total amount of 87 400 SEK. These organizations and projects are  WWF’s Climate Project, the Kula Project, and Plan International’s project A Working Future .
